Steve Wymer
Steve Wymer is a dedicated community advocate with a wealth of experience spanning public, private, and non-profit sectors. A passionate leader, Steve has made significant contributions as a spokesperson and advisor to four U.S. Senators in Washington, DC, before transitioning to Silicon Valley as a technology executive. In the fall of 2020, Steve became President & CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley, where he continues to impact lives positively. Steve’s work in Washington, DC included extensive roles with the US Department of State, training media and officials across Africa and Eastern Europe. In 2010, he was elected President of the US Senate Press Secretaries Association, a testament to his leadership and expertise in bipartisan press relations. His move to San Jose in 2011 marked a new chapter, with roles at TiVo, Nextdoor.com, and eBay, where he served as chief communications officer and chair of the eBay Foundation. A fierce advocate for downtown San Jose, Steve chaired the Finance Committee for Team San Jose from 2015 to 2021 and is spearheading efforts to bring a large-scale three-on-three basketball tournament to the city in 2025 to benefit Silicon Valley community organizations. Recognized as “Community Leader of the Year” by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group in 2016 and honored with CreaTV’s Leigh Weimers’ Award in 2018, Steve’s commitment to community and development is evident.
Steve Wymer is a dynamic leader with extensive experience across public, private, and non-profit sectors. In 2010, while serving as Communications Director and spokesperson in the Senate, Steve was elected President of the US Senate Press Secretaries Association, a bipartisan press organization in Congress. His move to San Jose in 2011 marked a new chapter as he led communications and corporate affairs at TiVo. Following nearly five years at TiVo, Steve joined Nextdoor.com, overseeing communications and policy, before serving as eBay’s Chief Communications Officer and chairing the eBay Foundation from 2019. In San Jose, Steve served as Mayor Sam Liccardo’s appointee to the Board of Directors for Work2Future, a job resource entity for the unemployed. Recognized as “Community Leader of the Year” by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group in 2016 and honored with CreaTV’s 2018 Leigh Weimers’ Award, Steve has been a steadfast advocate for downtown San Jose. He chaired the Finance Committee for Team San Jose from 2015 to 2021 and is now spearheading a large-scale annual three-on-three basketball tournament set to debut in 2025 to benefit Silicon Valley community organizations. A graduate of Washington State University, where he served three terms as student body president and championed the opening of a $40M student rec center, Steve also holds a professional certification in Business and Political Negotiations from Harvard University. He and his wife Michele, a partner at a DC lobbying firm and Vice Chair of the Special Olympics of Northern California, live in San Jose with their four children.
